Berlin part one

I'm sitting in Lisa's room right now. She's gone off to work and left me to my own today, but we have plans to meet up tonight. The keyboard here is slightly different, the y where the z is supposed to be, the @ sign somewhere completely different. If she had a wifi connection in the house, I'd be able to easily use my ipad but alas...

Yesterday I got picked up by a friend of hers, Vanessa, who speaks excellent English and who served as my tour guide through Berlin for several hours. We ended up having a very good conversation, ranging from politics to universities to boyfriends. We'd just gotten back to Lisa's flat when Lisa herself got home and I finally got to meet this girl that Tia Ysabel has been talking so well of.

She really is amazingly nice. She's also a huge planner, and we have written down plans for almost every second of the next four days. Monday is a national holiday here in Germany and Lisa wants to rent a boat is it's not cold outside. We went out last night to meet up with a group of her friends, most of whom spoke decent English and all of whom were very friendly. All the girls had long blonde hair and all the guys had strong, pointed chins. It definately made me feel like I was in Germany!

To make sure I don't get lost as I wander around Berlin today, Lisa has handdrawn me four or five maps, has written down phrases in German that I can just show to people, and has sat down to google-map all the places she has planned for us to be at. There is a house-warming party to go to, a street parade that is happening, a disco club to dance at, perhaps a poker night, perhaps a movie night, perhaps -- she has lists and lists of plans, and she spent a good bit of time last night promoting her ideas to all her friends, seeing who else would be interested in coming along with us.

For now, I am going to make it to a Labor Camp that is slightly north of Berlin. And then I'm going to just go with the flow, because Lisa seems to be doing a great job running the show!
